No Health Insurance? Clinical Trials May Be an Option
Research studies provide study-related medical care at no cost — no insurance required. How it works and who can qualify in Miami.
For many people in South Florida, seeing a doctor regularly is a financial stretch — and ongoing care for a chronic condition can feel out of reach. Clinical trials are not a replacement for health insurance, but for the right person they open a door: medical attention from a dedicated team, at no cost, while contributing to research.
What a study covers
- All study visits with the medical team, including physical exams
- The investigational medication or treatment being studied
- Study-related lab work, ECGs, and other testing
- Close monitoring of your condition for the duration of the study
- Compensation for your time and travel in most studies
What a study is not
A trial follows a fixed protocol: it monitors and treats what the study is designed to study. It does not replace an emergency room, a surgeon, or comprehensive primary care. A good research site is honest about that line — and our team helps connect participants with community resources for needs outside the study.
Who can qualify
Each study has its own criteria — age range, diagnosis, current medications. Insurance status is not one of them: you can participate with or without coverage, and immigration status is not a barrier to asking. Our coordinators review the current studies enrolling in Miami and tell you honestly whether one fits.
How to start
It begins with a conversation, not a commitment. Call us or complete the participation form — a bilingual coordinator reviews your situation, explains what is enrolling now, and answers every question before you decide anything. If nothing fits today, we can keep you in mind for future studies.
